Wooden Shjips is a band with possibly the most nonsensical description I’ve read in a while:
Wooden Shjips is a vital and refreshingly inspired quartet from San Francisco playing loud rock ‘n’ roll in a style heavily influenced by the experimentalism of psychedelia, classical minimalism and garage rock excess.
I think what’s trying to be said with a variety of vague and contradictory adjectives, is that these guys play very repetitive distorted rock songs, and sometimes they stumble onto catchy riffs, while at other times the riffs seem to purposely drone and bore, because the band likes the sound of post-rock distortion. Oh, and there are occasional guitar and keys solos. So, you know, psychedelic experimentation.
