Wo Fat - The Black Code

While I’m thinking about psychedelic metal I’m going to post from Wo Fat’s new album which was released a few weeks ago. Honestly, this band just keeps getting better and better, really benefiting from higher production values since their debut. This year has been great for these sludgy bands becoming a lot better at recording their ridiculously distorted guitars. I need to find an excuse to go on a long highway drive soon to properly lose myself in this record. Here’s the album’s title track, The Black Code.

Wo Fat - Enter the Riffian

Apparently I’d never posted off of Wo Fat’s first album, Psychedelonaut. I think I probably did on my old blog. This is a band I would go out and see in a heartbeat. If you’re looking for some good distorted grooves, this is the group you’re looking for.

Wo Fat is an American band that plays super distorted, psychedelic rock. I don’t like getting overly specific with music genres, but this is sludge rock. They describe themselves as spiritual successors to heavy 70s bands like Leaf Hound, and being able to drop that name wins them serious brownie points.

Wo Fat - Bayou Juju

I was going to post from another folk album tonight, but then I found out that I’d missed Wo Fat’s 2011 album and got all excited.

I wish I lived somewhere where I could turn my amps up as loud as these guys do. Although they probably have the grossest tinnitus ever.
