Lumerians took what feels like a dramatic turn into krautrock territory on their new album. While they still have fun bass lines, the focus has shifted almost totally away from distorted rock riffs into the trance-link keyboard work of 70s German progressive rock. So I’m a little torn. I respect the versatility they’re showing off, but I really like the vibe of their debut and hope their next album bridges the gap in the two’s style. Also: what a cover!
Lumerians is an American psychedelic rock band that falls in with the space music I’ve been into this week. They love their bouncy bass riffs, and I love them too. The rest of their sound is filled out with dreamy keyboard passages, a little guitar droning, and male and female vocals spaced out with delay effects. They’re kind of like a less cheesy version of Pure Reason Revolution, but they do occasionally get too electronic for my tastes.
