Montrose was the rock group that Sammy Hagar fronted before he was recruited into Van Halen. Say what you want about Hagar, but he sure knows how to attach himself to some of the most talented guitarists of our times, this band’s namesake, Ronnie Montrose, being no exception. I think I’m going to spend some time this weekend looking up tabs for this record’s riffs, because they are fantastic and I need to have them up my sleeve. The band’s self-titled debut was released in 1973, and sounds similar to early Judas Priest or Goliath.
