Alpes was a French band that originally formed as a group called 2bis in 1969, but by this album, released in 1972, they’d renamed themselves. Catherine Ribeiro was a minorly famous singer and actress during the 60s, and so her name was probably kept apart from the band’s mostly for promotional purposes, although she was considered a regular band member. The band’s lead writer was Patrice Moullet who invented a couple instruments (the percuphone and cosmophone) to express his psychedelic folk visions.
