Ben - The Influence
I just stumbled across an Akarma reissue of Ben’s self-titled 1971 record. Akarma is simply the best reissue label ever. They dig up the best music. This band is a jazz fusion prog rock band full of horns, heavy keys, and cutting guitar work. The album cover is kind of regrettable. Is it supposed to be a faucet wearing sunglasses? The general shape just seems to draw my mind toward ovaries, and so the pink takes on a sort of unpleasant connotation. My current theory is that they were trying to subliminally message that this record’s supposed to be listened to at least once a month.
