Satin Whale were another super talented progressive rock group from Germany during the 70s. Their 1974 debut, Desert Places, is a dense work of instrumental wizardry that’s easy to get lost in. This is not good music for multitasking. It practically forces you to look off into the distance and daydream. Slate published a series about prog last week but virtually ignored the much jazzier continental European bands, so hopefully this helps to fill that hole.
