A new record store called Black Raven Records opened up just around the corner from my place, specializing in metal, and I decided to check it out today. The volunteer (yeah, they don’t make enough money to pay their employees) was really nice and wrote me up a list of bands to try out. I picked up a couple records, one of which is Below The Lights, the 2003 release by the black-metal-gone-progressive band Enslaved. The album is full of really good riffs, and a lot more movement than I was expecting. Also, I would just like to say that I’m really happy that metal-heads have agreed to name a whole sub-genre Viking Metal.
